Big Bang-stars already made $140 million
The world’s best watched TV series gets a twelfth season. If the ratings of The Big Bang are Theoryastronomical, then that includes a similar salary. According to NME calculations, the top trio of the series – Jim Parsons (Sheldon), Johnny Galecki (Leonard) and Kaley Cuoco (Penny) – has already earned $140 million (€130 million) per person from the sitcom.
Remarkably, the amount could have been a lot higher. For a long time, the trio were paid a million dollars per episode, but decided to hand over a ton of this to their colleagues for the new season. Mayim Bialik (Amy) and Melissa Rauch (Bernadette) didn’t come in until season three and have a less prominent role, which also made their salaries a lot lower. It still is, by the way. They now earn about half of Sheldon, Leonard and Penny.
With 900,000 dollars per episode, the three are no longer in the top scale of one million, an amount that also the actors of Friends received during their last seasons. Still, they are far above any other actor in any series, but they don’t earn very badly either.
Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel – $750,000
Gilmore Girlsis back and that may cost a lot. Main players Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel are paid a lot of money, although the difference with The Big Bang is considerable. Especially when you consider that the special episodes of Gilmore Girlsnentig minutes, while The Big Bang has Theory episodes of about 21 minutes.
Mark Harmon – $525,000
If you’ve been the face of the NCIS crew for fourteen years, then of course you’re warm. For every episode, which lasts just under three quarters of an hour, a salary of over half a million can be called very royal.
Kevin Spacey – $500,000
With half a million dollars per episode (about three quarters of an hour) Frank Underwood is probably the best earning politician in the world. So it’s better to act in House of Cards than to participate in the political game.
Game of Thrones – $500,000
The cast of Game of Thronesis of course huge and diverse, but still top salaries are quietly handed out. Recently Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Lena Heady (Cersei Lannister) and Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) get half a million per episode (an hour). Fun fact is that their contracts state that there is no guarantee that they will survive the series.
The Simpsons – $315,000
There are more actors who deserve even better, but this cast is quite remarkable. Dan Castellaneta (Homer), Julie Kavner (Marge), Nancy Cartwright (Bart) and Yeardley Smith (Lisa) never come into the picture, but earn everything with their sound. The voice actors of the immensely popular The Simpsons iron out $315,000 for each episode of 20 to 25 minutes.
