Big Bang Theory ends – 10 crass facts about the series
Bazinga! That’s 10 secrets to Big Bang Theory.
“The Big Bang Theory” is about to end. Penny, Sheldon, Leonard, Raj and Howard are expected to last flash across our screens in 2019.
That will mark the end of 12 seasons of the cute nerds next door. Over the years, some fun facts about the series have accumulated that are worth highlighting.
“Lenny, Penny, Kenny”?
The show was supposed to be called “Lenny, Penny and Kenny.” That means you have to assume Sheldon was supposed to be Kenny. Let that work. Kenny. Kenny. No, Sheldon was definitely the right choice.
To this day, no one knows Penny’s last name. It hasn’t been revealed in any of the previous episodes. Maybe it’ll come up? Sheldon always knocks anyway, but we’d love to know where to ring the bell.
Mayim Bialik is the only one of the actresses who is actually a scientist – she received a PhD in neuroscience in 2008
Leonard and Penny were not only on the TV show, but in real life, too, but the relationship lasted only two years.
Who knew? Most of the formulas and theories in the show are real. Often the renowned physics professor David Saltzberg is on the set and acts as a consultant.
Kevin Sussman, who plays comic book salesman Stuart in the series, worked in a comic book store even before he became an actor.
The staircase in the series is not that big: in reality it consists of only a single section of stairs. The stairwell has to be redecorated every time the characters go down or up a staircase.
A special ringtone
Howard has in the series for a while the ringtone “She blinded me with Science”, a song from the 80s.
The song was the title song of the never aired pilot and therefore has its own meaning again.
Memories on the fridge:
In November 2014, actress Carol Ann Susi, the voice of Howard’s mother, passed away. She was never seen, but her croaky voice was legendary. Since her death, a photo of the actress can be found in the series on Leonard’s refrigerator.
This is unfortunately not the “Euglossa Bazinga” picture: imago/ watson.de
There’s a bee named after Sheldon’s catchphrase “Bazinga.” In 2012 biologists discovered a new species of bee in Brazil and named it “Euglossa Bazinga”. Unfortunately, Sheldon is allergic to bees.
