The actors prevailed in the fee dispute against their producers and now earn 1 million dollars per episode.
Big Bang in your wallet: The three main actors of the US sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” will earn three times as much in future. The actors Jim Parsons (41, Sheldon), Johnny Galecki (39, Leonard) and Kaley Cuoco (28, Penny) have prevailed with their claim of one million US dollars (about euros) per episode, as the US trade journal “Deadline” reported on Monday (local time). According to “Hollywood Reporter”, they had previously received 325,000 dollars (about 242,000 euros) for each half-hour episode.
According to the report, the three have negotiated a new three-year contract with Warner Brothers TV. They have also been promised an eleventh season of the TV comedy, the report said. In the dispute over the fees, the actors did not show up for shooting last week because they did not have any contracts yet.
Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) are constantly educating themselves in ‘The Big Bang Theory’: Some users feel the fee is excessive. “Greed in its worst form,” writes Christian Kneier on the series’ Facebook page. Others find the actors’ higher fees – measured by the success of the sitcom – justified. “The show makes billions for the bosses, not exactly greedy,” writes user Yibiao Wang.
The other actors were now also hoping for an agreement on their salaries by the scheduled start of shooting for the eighth season this Wednesday, “Deadline” reported. In the USA, the popular sitcom will continue to be shown on CBS from September 22nd. According to “Deadline”, the future million-dollar salary of Parsons, Galecki and Cuoco is comparable to the mega salary of the stars of the sitcom world success “Friends”.
The series can be seen in Germany on ProSieben since 2009. It revolves around a group of odd scientists and their pretty neighbour Penny (Kaley Cuoco). In Germany the new episodes of the seventh season start on September 8.
