“The Big Bang Theory” is about to be history and then what?
The last season of the successful series “Game Of Thrones” has just begun – and soon it will be time for another cult series from the USA: That’s it. After twelve years and twelve seasons, “The Big Bang Theory” is over. Nobody knows exactly how the series about four scientists will end, apart from the people involved.
The only thing that is certain is that the last, the really very last episode will be shown for the first time in the USA on May 16, 2019. In Germany, fans may have to be patient until the autumn of this year.
Six-figure salaries for all
For the seven main actors, an important source of income is lost with the end of the series. The three main actors Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco received one million dollars per episode – recently a little less in order to give their co-stars better salaries.
On the list of the highest paid TV actresses compiled by the American “Forbes” magazine, Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik currently rank sixth together (with estimated earnings of twelve million dollars a year). Kaley Cuoco took second place with 24.5 million dollars.
Top of the “Forbes” list
Among the male TV actors, Jim Parsons is at the top of the list with 27.5 million dollars, followed by his colleagues Johnny Galecki (26.5 million dollars), Simon Helberg (26 million dollars) and Kunal Nayyar (25 million).
For reasons of time alone, the series stars have pursued little or no other projects in recent years – if there was any mention of them beyond “The Big Bang Theory”, it was more about their private lives. One can be curious to see how things will continue when the series is history. There are many ways to shape your life: Retreat into the private sphere (financially feasible), new roles (desirable), total crash (not to be excluded)?
These are the stars of the series
Jim Parsons. Picture: Neilson Barnard / AFP Jim Parsons(46, playing Dr. Dr. Sheldon Cooper) doesn’t fall into a deep hole after the series shutdown, but will probably act more behind the camera. He has taken over speaker roles again and again in the past years. Parsons has won four Emmys as best leading actor. He is married.
Mayim Bialik.| Picture: John Wolfsohn / AFP Mayim Bialik(43, playing Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler – Sheldon Cooper’s wife) was already a series star as “Blossom” – that was in the 90s. She is indeed a neuroscientist – since 2010 she also plays one in “The Big Bang Theory”. Bialik was married, has two children and is also successful as YouTuberin (GrokNation).
Johnny Galecki.| Picture: Jean-Baptiste Lacroix / AFP Johnny Galecki(43, plays Dr. Leonard Hofstadter) was already on stage and in front of the camera as a child (“Roseanne”). He has been involved with female partners in series at least twice, and he was with Kaley Cuoco for two years. His current girlfriend is the model Alaina Meyer – supposedly the wedding is already being planned.
Kaley Cuoco.| Picture: Jean-Baptiste Lacroix / AFP Kaley Cuoco(33, playing Leonard Hofstadter’s wife Penny Hofstadter) became a series star already as a teenager (“My wild daughters”). She is married in her second marriage and after the end of the series she soon has more time for her favorite hobby: riding. She might want to make a book out of her Polaroid photos from the shoot.
Simon Helberg.| Picture: Phillip Faraone / AFP Simon Helberg(38, playing Howard Wolowitz) had mainly smaller roles in series before the worldwide success of “The Big Bang Theory”. The actor also appeared in the movie “Florence Foster Jenkins” in 2016. He is married and father of two children.
Melissa Rauch.| Picture: Frederic J. Brown / AFP Melissa Rauch(38, playing Howard’s wife Dr. Bernadette Rostenkowski-Wolowitz – the one with the shrill voice) has been part of the series’ ensemble since 2009. Before that she had made a name for herself as a stand-up comedian, among other things. Rauch is married and mother of a daughter.
Kunal Nayyar.| Picture: Rich Polk / AFP Kunal Nayyar(37, plays Dr. Rajesh Koothrappali) is the eternal love-seeker in the series. The British-born, who grew up in New Delhi, is married to the former “Miss India” Neha Kapur – the couple lives in Los Angeles.
